Bowman's Root

Gillenia trifoliata
Rose Family

The flowers of Bowman's Root are very unique-looking. The 5 petals of each flower are thin, white and uneven; some longer and some shorter and shaped slightly differently. The roots of this plant were used by the Indians as a laxative and emetic. Blooms in late spring--woods and forest roadsides.
