Bunched Arrowhead

Sagittaria fasciculata
Water Plaintain Family

Bunched Arrowhead has spatulate leaves rather than having basal lobes like  S. latifolia , and is much smaller, only 8-12 inches tall. A plant of bogs and seeps. Once more widespread, Bunched Arrowhead is a Federal and NC State listed endangered species found only in a few localities in NC and SC, this one in a wooded area of Henderson Co., NC (the only county in NC to still have a known population). Blooms in late spring. photo 3 June 2004.
